Delivered-To: mbaya@svaha.com From: TsunamiInc@aol.com Date: Tue, 4 Jan 2000 15:48:23 EST Subject: The Jamie Anderson Newsletter To: DakotaAZ@aol.com It's time once again for that veritable tome of misspellings and incomplete sentences, The Jamie Anderson Newsletter. You're on this mailing list because you signed up at a concert or wrote to us and asked to be added. If your address is changing soon or you'd like to be removed, write to us at tsunamiinc@aol.com. Please do not send us jokes, virus warnings or petitions but do send personal mail. I try to answer every one. Feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends, especially if I'll be playing in the town where they live. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hey, it's the new year and no planes fell out of the sky! Sure, a few slot machines stopped working in Delaware but who cares? I hope your new year festivities were fun. My girlfriend and I tried to watch the ball drop in Times Square but the picture was obscured by another one of the acorn dropping in Raleigh. Yep, I live in Mayberry. Right next door to Barney Fife. I jam with the Darlings every Saturday night. Okay, so I don't play with the Darlings but I did some way cool gigs in New Mexico in early December, then took the rest of the month off from performing. This month and next will find me in North Carolina mostly, with short trips to Florida for the South Florida Folk Festival and in February, to Cleveland for the Folk Alliance conference. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finalist in Mid-Atlantic Song Contest I was one of just a few finalists in this prestigious song contest. I won sixth place for "Mama Come Quick" in the folk song category. Cool beans, eh? Speaking of being a finalist, that's why I'm going to the South Florida Folk Festival - I'm competing in the singer-songwriter contest there. Send WIN vibes down that way on January 15, 'k? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the Michigan Festival! I've been hired to facilitate two intensive workshops at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival in August! I'll be teaching songwriting and bellydance on Tuesday and/or Wednesday of the festival. More details later. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On an Olivia Cruise? Well, they haven't hired me yet but they tell me it's likely. If you'd like to nudge them a bit, you can give them a shout at info@oliviatravel.com and tell them what good taste you have. Suggesting that you'd bring 50 of your closest friends on the cruise where they book me might be a good idea too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Outvoice Top 20!!!!! My music is on the top 20 Outvoice chart for 1999. "I Wanna Be A Straight Guy" and "With My Smile" (both from "Drive All Night") are number 18 and 19 on the Top Tracks chart. "Drive All Night" IS NUMBER FIVE on the CD chart!!! Um, not that I'm excited or anything. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! Outvoice is a wonderful web site and listserv about queer music. For more info: www.outvoice.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now at MP3 Now you can hear my songs on MP3. Go to http://www.mp3.com/jamieanderson. There are several songs there as well as info about my work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Classes Don't forget that I'm teaching Bellydance, Songwriting, The Art of Performance and Getting Gigs in the triangle city area in January and February.
